I want to cover one thing on a difficult Scripture, which in the King James Version has caused people so much trouble. There are so many false prophets out there:
preaching in the name of Christ
misquoting Scripture
following poor translations
and everyone who listens to it believes it!
That’s why in the letter this month, the July/August letter, we have the Truth: What do you mean born again/born of God? etc. The simple answer is this: you are not born again until you are resurrected from the dead!
What does it say of Christ? It says there in Rev. 1, He is the First Born from the dead. We give our hearts in total dedication to God, coupled with His Holy Spirit, and rightly divide the Word of God so we understand what it properly says.
Rom. 10 in the King James Version, which is not the best translation possible. That’s why we have A Faithful Version, The Holy Bible in Its Original Order.
Years ago, they used to say it would be nice if we had everything in the Bible the way it should be, because they would come to services, and they would hear the minister say, ‘Well, the King James says thus and such, but the Greek says thus and such.’ I remember when we began our Greek class with Dr. Dorothy, we asked him that very question.
Since the Church had all this knowledge and understanding, which is not what we have today reflected in the Faithful Version. Yet, there are Churches of God that are so ignorant and self-righteous that they won’t even open the Faithful Version or look at it.
Rom. 10:4 (in the KJV) is a terrible translation. It is technically not incorrect, but if you change one word, you change the whole meaning! If you don’t know the problem of the New Testament—it was not a Catholic/Protestant problem—it was Judaism. If you don’t have the book: Judaism: Revelation of Moses or Religion of Men, you need to get that book.
Let’s look at one example of the Apostle Peter, and let’s see one thing that caused him problems way into his ministry.
In Acts 10 you need to understand some things about Judaism. God had to send His special vision and messengers to Peter to get him to go to Cornelius, who was an Italian centurion, and uncircumcised. Yet, he worshiped God in his house; he was seeking God, and God sent an angel and said, ‘Go get Peter.’ Peter grew up living with Judaism.
Have you ever heard of the book, Code of Jewish Law by Ganzfried & Goldin? It’s over 300 pages with 10,000 ‘Judaism commandments’ designed by men! They say that if you do want to be right with God, you must do what the things in the Code of Jewish Law says. Peter was stuck with that when he came to visit Cornelius. Cornelius had sent a couple of soldiers to go down and get Peter and bring him, because the angel gave him the vision to do it.
Acts 10:24: “And on the next day, they came to Caesarea [Gentiles]. Now, Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his kinsmen and his intimate friends. And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet, worshiping him” (vs 24-25).
He did not say, ‘hail the first pope,’ because Christ did not build His Church on Peter. He built His Church upon Himself.
Verse 26: “But Peter raised him up, saying, ‘Stand up, for I myself am also a man.’ And as he was talking with him, he went in and found many gathered together. And he said to them...” (vs 26-28)—all of them, whole group of Gentiles. Think about that!
Here is the conflict with the Code of Jewish Law. Peter, a little later in Gal. 2, forgot this lesson, and caused untold problem in the Church.
Verse 28: And he said to them, ‘You know that it is unlawful for a man who is a Jew... [that means a Judaizer] ...to associate with or come near to anyone of another race.
That’s the Code of Jewish Law. They said IF they did that:
IF they avoided all Gentiles
IF they didn’t keep company with them
to keep company
to come unto one another nation
“...But God has shown me that no man should be called... [notice the two words] ...common or unclean” (v 28).
What’s the difference? Common was a Gentile who had been circumcised, he could come into the synagogue in a place where they put the circumcised Gentiles, who were called ‘proselytes.’ This Code of Jewish Law said:
you can’t keep company
you can’t talk with them
you can’t be with them at all or anything
“...But God has shown me that no man should be called common or unclean” (v 28).
When we come to Rom. 10, we find quite a translation here. Here’s where the Protestants come and create so much confusion:
they don’t understand the background in the New Testament
they don’t understand anything about the Code of Jewish Law or Judaism
They turn to Rom. 10 and they say: ‘See, the Law has ended!’
But remember what Jesus said in Matthew 5:17: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until the heaven and the earth shall pass away...” (vs 17-18) Stop and think about that! Heaven and earth is still here.
He also said that of the Prophets in Matt. 24; that heaven and earth shall pass away, ‘but My Word shall never pass away!’
Let’s look at this one unfortunate translation (in the KJV), because it doesn’t have any relevance back to what it’s talking about in Rom. 9. Separated out, it looks like Christ is the end of the Law (in the KJV).
Does that mean the Law of God?
OR
Does that mean a law of Judaism?
That’s why in the book 14 Rules for Bible Study, you must get the context before and the context afterwards, to understand it.
Romans 10:4 (KJV): “Christ is the end of the Law for righteousness for everyone who believes.”
They say they believe, but they don’t! What is the context that you have the phrase, ‘Christ is the end of the Law’? That’s not how it should be translated. Here’s why: Because the battle between the Jews and Gentiles was over the Code of Jewish Law, which they said that the Gentiles also had to keep.
The Jews did these laws, followed them, obeyed them to make themselves righteous or justified before God. These are human laws trying to make themselves righteous!
Romans 9:23 (FV): “In order that He might make known the riches of His glory unto the vessels of mercy, which He prepared before for glory, those of us whom He also called, not from among the Jews only, but also from among the Gentiles?” (vs 23-24).
Verse 25: “Accordingly, He also said in Hosea, ‘I will call those who are not My people, “My people,” and those who were not beloved, “Beloved.” And it shall be, in the place where it was said to them, “You are not My people,” there they shall be called the sons of the living God’” (vs 25-26).
Verse 27: “But Isaiah cried out concerning Israel, ‘Although the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved. For He is accomplishing and limiting the matter in righteousness; because the Lord will limit the matter He is doing upon the earth’” (vs 27-28).
Another place says, ‘cut short.’ It means limited. He will limit the end-time events to how many years? Seven total! Split in two, three and a half, three and a half—limited! IF not, there would be no flesh saved alive! Just another part of understanding the Scriptures.
Verse 30: What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not follow after righteousness, have attained righteousness, even the righteousness that is by faith. But Israel...” (vs 30-31)—here’s what the Jews did:
They said all their laws were to make them righteous! All their laws were to make them justified before God, not the sacrifice of Christ! Let’s see what we’re talking about here:
Verse 31: “But Israel, although they followed after a law of righteousness...”—notice no definite article ‘the.’
That’s where the translators made their greatest mistake by inserting two definite articles:
‘the work of the law’—to make it appear as though it was God’s Law
“...although they followed after a law of righteousness, did not attain to a law of righteousness” (v 31).
In other words, they didn’t come to God the way that they should have, so they could be righteous through repentance and baptism. They did not attain to it with their laws!
Verse 32: “Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but by works of law...”
That’s the correct translation because the definite article, ‘the works of the law,’ those two definite articles are not there in the Greek! They followed after a law of righteousness. Their own righteousness as we saw to establish their own righteousness!

“...Because they did not seek it by faith, but by works of law: for they stumbled at the Stone of Stumbling, exactly as it is written: ‘Behold, I place in Sion a Stone of Stumbling and a Rock of offense, but everyone who believes in Him... [in Christ] ...shall not be ashamed’” (vs 32-33).
Romans 10:1: “Brethren, the earnest desire of my heart and my supplication to God for Israel is for salvation.”
What he’s saying is that Israel, with their law, they followed a law of their own righteousness, the Code of Jewish Law. They had no salvation.
Verse 2: “For I testify of them that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For they, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God” (vs 2-3).
What was the righteousness of the Code of Jewish Law when Peter came to Cornelius? Peter said, ‘You know it’s an unlawful thing for a Jew to keep company with a Gentile.’ Think about that!
After what he did there, Acts 10, he stayed many days. ? Here we have it, right here.
Verse 3: “For they, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.
Verse 4 is the correct translation from the Greek: “For Christ is the end of works of law...”—which means that you must keep the Laws of God, not the laws of men!
How many laws do the Catholics have that are catechismic laws? That’s exactly the same as the Code of Jewish Law. Laws and regulations made by men to make you have righteous conduct.
God wants you to have righteous conduct through faith in Christ and the Holy Spirit of God! Not by rules and regulations and laws of men!
Peter learned that lesson, and then he fell back into following Jewish law when it was politically correct in his eyes. Whenever people look to catechismic law, or Jewish law, or whatever other religious law of man, THEN:
you are rejecting the righteousness of God
you are rejecting how you come into right standing with God
How do you come into right standing with God?
by faith in the sacrifice of Christ
by belief in the forgiveness of sin through His blood
The righteousness of the Code of Jewish Law—and they have thousands of them—was to do the traditions of men!

Verse 4: “For Christ is the end of works of law for righteousness to everyone who believes”—which means that you live by faith in Christ!
Let’s see what traditions of men do, and we will see that Christ rejected it! This fits right in with the vision that God gave Peter, and why Peter said to Cornelius, as He was walking into Cornelius’s house, to see His whole house full of Gentiles wanting to hear the Word of God! He said, ‘You know that it is an unlawful thing for a Jew to keep company with one of another nation or enter into his house.’ That’s a Jew following Judaism! But what did Peter say? But God has shown me that I should call no man common or unclean.
can’t keep company with them
can’t enter into their house with them
can’t sit down and talk with them
in the synagogue they’re out by themselves
because the Jews were righteous in their own eyes!
You need to understand another lie that the Protestants have, which is this: ‘IF you keep the Commandments of God, you are earning your own salvation.’ NOT TRUE!
IF you are following the dictates of men for your righteousness, you are trying to earn your own salvation, whether that is:
Judaism
Catholicism
Protestantism
or any other religion
They all have their traditional teachings and laws!
Mark 7:1: “Then the Pharisees and some of the scribes from Jerusalem came together to Him. And when they saw some of His disciples eating with common [defiled] hands (that is, unwashed hands)... [‘defiled’ means they didn’t wash their hands ritually] ...they found fault” (vs 1-2).
Why? Because They thought their laws were more important than God’s!
Verse 3: “For the Pharisees and all the Jews, holding fast to the tradition of the elders....”
What is that? Code of Jewish Law!. Thousands of them! You get the book, or you can get a summary of it in Judaism: Revelation of God, or Religion of Men.
“...holding fast to the tradition of the elders, do not eat unless they wash their hands thoroughly. Even when coming from the market, they do not eat unless they first wash themselves. And there are many other things that they have received to observe, such as the washing of cups and pots and brass utensils and tables.” (vs 3-4).
Verse 5: “For this reason, the Pharisees and the scribes questioned Him, saying, ‘Why don’t Your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?’”
Verse 6: “And He answered and said to them...”
Now listen carefully, this is why Rom. 10:4 cannot ever mean Christ ended the Laws of God! He only ended the works of Judaism laws! Later, the Gentile laws of their religions.
Verse 6: “And He answered and said to them, ‘Well did Isaiah prophesy concerning you hypocrites, as it is written, “This people honors Me with their lips, but their hearts are far away from Me.”’”
Exactly what Eduardo was talking about in his message: Give Me Your Heart!
IF you’re focused on what men want rather than what God wants, where is your heart?
IF you’re trying to please men so that you can have favor, where is God? He’s not in the equation!
“...‘This people honors Me with their lips, but their hearts are far away from Me. But in vain do they worship Me, teaching for doctrine the commandments of men’” (vs 6-7).
That’s what Rom. 9 and the first part of Rom. 10 is talking about. The righteousness of God through faith, because you:
believe God and keep His Commandments
believe in Christ and accept the sacrifice of Christ and His shed blood for the forgiveness of sin
so that you will be in right standing with God through Christ! You can never be in right standing with God through the works of men or the philosophies of men!
Verse 7: “But in vain do they worship Me, teaching for doctrine the commandments of men. For leaving the Commandment of God...” (vs 7-8). Think about that!
What happens IF you say the Law is done away? You’re leaving the Commandments of God!
“...you hold fast the tradition of men, such as the washing of pots and cups; and you practice many other things like this.’ Then He said to them, ‘Full well do you reject the Commandment of God...”’ (vs 8-9).
You can’t reject the Commandment of God! That translation in the King James Version, ‘Christ is the end of the Law,’ is an absolutely faulty translation and very misleading, like it says here.
“...‘Full well do you reject the Commandment of God, so that you may observe your own tradition” (v 9).
Think about this: Are you a Sunday-keeper? Full well, you reject the Commandment of God to keep the Sabbath, so that you may keep your Sunday! You think in your keeping Sunday, that you’re doing right. But you’re doing exactly as the Jews here in Mark 7 that Christ is talking about, because whenever you reject the Commandment of God and replace it with the commandment of men, you are rejecting the Righteousness of God!
Why? Because all of God’s Laws and Commandments are righteous! None of the traditions of men. You take Sunday, Christmas, Easter, New Years, you take even some of the things of the Seventh-Day Adventist and following Ellen G. White and their wrong application of the Passover.
Then he gives you an example. Let’s read that again.
Verse 9: ‘Full well do you reject the Commandment of God, so that you may observe your own tradition.”
IF Christ ended the Law, He’s rejecting the Laws of God. How, as Eduardo brought out, do you live by every Word of God:
IF you reject His Commandments
IF you reject His Laws?
Can you murder? No!
Can you steal? No!
Can you dishonor father and mother? No!
But people do it all the time. Look at all the satanists today, the end result of the Protestants doing away with the Laws of God and following their own traditions! We have a world that is filled with people:
who hate God
who won’t keep His Commandments
who know nothing about it
and they justify the wicked, like Governor Walz in Minnesota, and calling incest with a 10-year-old girl, a bad day[transcriber’s correction].
“...‘Full well do you reject the Commandment of God, so that you may observe your own tradition” (v 9).
Verse 10: “For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and ‘The one who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’ But you say, ‘IF a man shall say to his father or mother, “Whatever benefit you might receive from me is corban”’ (that is, set aside as a gift to God), ‘he is not obligated to help his parents’” (vs 10-11).
Verse 12: “And you excuse him from doing anything for his father or his mother, nullifying the authority of the Word of God by your tradition, which you have passed down; and you practice many traditions such as this” (vs 12-13).
That’s why people reject the Law of God, because of that one verse. You can’t do that.
Let’s talk about a little something we have covered many times before. But, IF you really:
believe in God
believe in Christ
believe that He is your Savior
believe that He is the Son of God
believe that you are to live by every Word of God
listen to the verses in John 14!
Protestantism revival isn’t going to solve much. Catholicism and all of their catechismic laws, and all of their Sunday-keeping, and all of their pagan practices, nullify the Word of God, and reject the Word of God! Let’s see what Jesus said here concerning that.
Many people say, ‘Do you love the Lord, brother? Do you love the Lord, sister?’ Oh, I love the Lord!
What does it mean to love God? It means you give your heart to God!
that’s why there’s baptism
that’s why there is receiving the Holy Spirit
Notice what Jesus said, here is the test:
John 14:15: “IF you love Me, keep the Commandments—namely, My Commandments.
Who was the Lord God of the Old Testament?
Who gave all the laws there?
Read there in Deut. 5-11, and you will find that that is full of New Testament doctrine. There is that two-letter word:
Verse15: “IF you love Me, keep the Commandments—namely, My Commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that it may be with you throughout the age: Even the Spirit of the Truth...” (vs 15-17).
IF you have the Spirit of the Truth, what will that produce in your life?
true behavior before God
true Commandment-keeping before God
Verse17: “Even the Spirit of the Truth, which the world cannot receive because it perceives it not, nor knows it, but you know it because it dwells with you, and shall be within you.” That’s the whole purpose of:
giving your heart to the Lord.
growing, changing and overcoming
Verse 19: “Yet, a little while and the world shall see Me no longer; but you shall see Me. Because I live, you shall live, also. In that day, you shall know that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you” (vs 19-20). Think about that!
That’s why Christ is the end of works of law of men, because Christ and the Father with the Spirit of God are dwelling in you! You have given your heart to the Lord, as Eduardo said.
Verse 21: The one who has My Commandments... [doesn’t say is rejecting them] and is keeping them, that is the one who loves Me...”
Just turn that around the other way: IF you’re keeping your own laws, IF you’re keeping your own works, you are not loving Him!
That’s why it is insanity and has been the foundation for the society today of total evil, because they say, you don’t have to keep the Law!
But Jesus said, 21: “The one who has My Commandments and is keeping them, that is the one who loves Me, and the one who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will manifest Myself to him.”
Then He repeats it again, because, v 22: “Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, ‘Lord, what has happened that You are about to manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?’ Jesus answered and said to him, ‘IF anyone loves Me, he will keep My Word...” (vs 22-23).
That’s quite an expression. ‘Word’ is a singular plural. It means ALL of His Word. “...he will keep My Word...”—not do away with it. That’s what it means.
Romans 10:4: “For Christ is the end of works of law...”—not the end of the Laws of God. Can never be, because:
John 14:23: “IF anyone loves Me, he will keep My Word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.”
Here is why Rom. 10:4[transcriber’s correction] can never mean ending the Laws of God!
Verse 24: “The one who does not love Me does not keep My words...”
there is no way you can claim that you don’t have to keep the Commandments of God
there is no way that you can say Jesus ended the Law
You hear it all the time, ‘if you keep the Commandments, you’re trying to earn your salvation.’ That is the most ignorant statement anyone can make. You are commanded by Jesus saying, IF you love Him, you will keep His words!
Matthew 5:17: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets...”
Who spoke that? Jesus!
How then can you go to Rom. 10:4 and say that Christ ended the Law?
The only way that can appear to be possible is with a faulty translation.
“...I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until the heaven and the earth shall pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no way pass from the Law until everything has been fulfilled. Therefore, whoever shall break one of these least Commandments...” (vs 17-19)—think about that!
All Sunday keepers, listen up IF you think the Sabbath Commandment is the least Commandment:
“...and shall teach men so... [Isn’t that what they teach every Sunday?] ...and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall practice and teach them...” (v 19).
Is that what we do?
Is that what we say?
Is that how we live?
Yes, indeed!
“...but whoever shall practice and teach them, this one shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven” (v 19).
Compared to the works of the scribes and Pharisees and their traditions.
Verse 20: “For I say to you, unless your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way that you shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.”
IF you think you’re going to go in salvation to heaven—but this is the Kingdom of Heaven coming to the earth—there’s no way you’re going to be there. There’s no way that you are going to reject the Laws and Commandments of God and say that you are Christian and say that you are righteous. You’re not! You go back and you read John 14 again.
IF you love Me, you will keep My words!
We just read them right here. This is important living in this evil world we’re living in. Next week, we’ll get into some more concerning prophecy and the book of Revelation, because it’s important that we understand that correctly, understand it the way that God wants us to understand it.
There are some parts of Revelation that are very difficult to understand. How do we understand them? IF we can’t come to an understanding of them, what do we do? We say, ‘Lord, we don’t understand it, but help us to do so as time goes on.’
Remember what Jesus said concerning prophecy: ‘Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall never pass away!
By all means, get the book: New Testament Comparisons by Joseph Ackerman, and you will see what the translators have done to the New Testament. Also what they have done, as you will see a little later, to the Old Testament.
But men can never produce words that can replace the Word of God and say that they are righteous. They’re not! The only righteousness comes from God!
